Young and untamed, but gutsy. Bold aromas of huckleberry, smoky meat and sage lead to dense tar, blackberry and cracked pepper that finish with chewy, slightly herbal tannins. According to the Wine Advocate, the 2006 Old Vines Zinfandel is a blend of old-vine parcels that are too small to be sold as single-vineyards and has a deeper ruby color, with hints of roasted herbs, pepper and nori (seaweed wrapper) 88-90 points.
Here at the Grove, we are impressed with the restraint that this wine displays. Turley can sometimes produce Zins that are so over the top they are difficult to get your head around, but this one shows great complexity and finesse that keeps us wanting more. We’ve got enough to last us for the month we hope☺. We also have a handful of other offering from Turley as well! Please ask us about them when you are here.
